How to use it

Take one number off your own point-of-sale system, find the matching reading here for your metro — or for your state, if your metro is not big enough in the index yet — and compare. The readings are medians across independent restaurants, so half the restaurants in the sample are above the figure and half below it. Being under the median is not a verdict; it is a question worth asking.

Read it carefully

The ticket readings are what guests paid, including tip and fees and after discounts — if you compare them against your net sales you will find a gap that is arithmetic, not performance. The price indexes are the opposite: they are what menus ask, before any discount, tax, tip or delivery fee.

A figure is published for a place only when enough restaurants and orders stand behind it, so a “not enough data” is exactly that and never a zero. A day marked as thin had unusually few restaurants reporting and should not be compared against. The full methodology.

These are benchmarks, not forecasts, and nothing here is financial or business advice. The sample is the independent restaurants running one point-of-sale system, not a random sample of the country.

Where this comes from

Kwick365 is computed from the working data of independent restaurants running KwickPOS, which publishes this site. Your own numbers are yours; nothing on Kwick365 is ever published per restaurant, and no restaurant is named anywhere on it.
